Chuck Caverly
Chuck is a botanist, ISA Certified Arborist®, and Certified Grow Native! Professional with decades of experience working with native ecosystems throughout Missouri. His passion for plants, restoration, and sharing knowledge has made him a trusted resource for homeowners, municipalities, and organizations seeking sustainable solutions.
Missouri Native Stewardship Services was started by Lisa and Chuck out of a shared passion for native landscapes, restoration, and the belief that the land around us should be working for the environment instead of against it.
Over the years, that passion grew into a company focused on stewardship, ecological restoration, and helping people better understand the value of native ecosystems in Missouri.
We approach landscapes as ecosystems first — designing and managing spaces that are ecologically functional, regionally appropriate, and built for long-term resilience.
At MO-Native, our work goes beyond aesthetics. Native landscapes support pollinators, improve soil and water health, provide habitat for wildlife, and reconnect people to the natural systems of this region. Whether we're restoring prairie, managing invasive species, installing native plantings, or maintaining stormwater systems, our goal is to help landscapes function the way they were meant to.
Our team includes experienced field crew members, restoration specialists, horticultural professionals, and ecological experts who care deeply about this work. We believe good stewardship comes from a combination of science, hands-on experience, observation, and a willingness to keep learning.
Education is also a big part of what we do. Through community outreach, workshops, partnerships, and apprenticeship training, we hope to encourage more people to see native landscapes not as "wild" or unmanaged, but as intentional, valuable, and necessary.
At the end of the day, MO-Native was built on the idea that healthy landscapes matter—not just for today, but for future generations as well.

Growing up spending afternoons and weekends mowing lawns, working in the family gardens or exploring the outdoors Chuck’s depth of knowledge of the ecological world is reflected in every project. For almost ten years, Chuck and Kerry, his wife, have affectionately called the Caverly Bend their home and retreat. The Bend has become a working lab for native species, invasive weed control, and regenerative agriculture. By no means a big property, the Maryland Heights residence is home to over 115 woody plant species and cultivars in addition to over 200 species of herbaceous perennials. Bordered by a riparian corridor on two sides, the Caverly Bend is an evolving work in progress. Each season finds Chuck and Kerry capturing rainwater for the gardens and greenhouse, battling invasives and erosion on the riparian corridor in addition to increasing the native footprint of the Bend.
